Power Smashers pulled off a five-set stunner over Creamline, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-13, to pull themselves even in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference women’s division Tuesday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Andrea Marzan blocked Alyssa Valdez’ drop ball in the deciding play in the fifth set to pull off the 15-13 victory and allowed the side of coach Nes Pamillar to halt their two-game losing skid to improve to 2-2.

“The team is just lacking in confidence, so that was the main point I focused on them earlier. I just boosted their confidence and trust on themselves,” he said in Filipino.

Regine Arocha paced the Power Smashers with 11 of her 18 points off hits, on top of five service aces and two blocks, while Jovelyn Prado got 16 markers, 14 coming from attacks.

Katherine Villegas added 13, powered by eight kills, three aces, and two blocks.

Creamline failed to capitalize of its early leads, most notably its 23-19 lead in the first set as it allowed the Power Smashers to score six straight to take the 25-23 win.

That continued in the ensuing sets, with the Cool Smashers’ 31 unforced errors coming back to haunt them.

Valdez carried Creamline (1-2) with 27 points, 25 of which came from hits, while Cesca Raqraquin added 16 in the loss.
