Where ever you may be in the Philippines, there is likely a basketball court—whether it’s full-sized or makeshift—built most probably a few blocks away from where you are.
Basketball is everywhere in the Philippines and it’s not surprising that just recently, a basketball playground that mirrors the legendary Rucker Park in Harlem, Manhattan in New York City has emerged in between sparkling skyscrapers in the flourishing financial district at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
“We wanted to have a court in BGC, which is probably the top city in the Philippines now and what we wanted to do is bring like a Rucker Park feel here in the Philippines, but have the Titan flavor,” said Migs Rocha, senior marketing manager, during the Titan Media Runs.
Titan, the biggest basketball specialty store in the country, calls the Filipinos’ newest playground as “Love Court” where “everybody can play.”
“It’s a place where all of us can play the game,” Rocha said.
The Love Court opened its doors to public two weeks ago and it has since been the stage to numerous basketball events and tournaments.
Filipino cagers Ray Parks and Kiefer Ravena, two of the top amateur players in the Philippines, were among those who got to burn some sole during Titan’s first open run held a couple of weeks ago.
“To be honest, it’s dope. It’s a crazy concept that Titan came up with. Filipino hoopers can hoop like they’re in Rucker Park especially here in the Philippines, it brings more attention and It shows the love to the game,” Parks said.
