University of the East kept University of Santo Tomas winless with an 80-67 thumping, even as San Sebastian barged into the win column on Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup in San Juan.

Clark Derige and Alvin Pasaol combined for 29 points as the Red Warriors rolled to their second win in three games, while sending the Tigers to their second straight loss at Filoil Flying V Centre.

With Michael Calisaan and Allyn Bulanadi carrying the fight, the Stags turned back the St. Benilde Blazers, 76-68, to even their card at 1-1.

Calisaan and Bulanadi pumped in 15 points each for the Stags, who pulled away in the second period, where they outscored the Blazers, 22-12, for a 34-26 halftime edge.

RK Ilagan, who tallied 13 points, gave San Sebastian its biggest lead, 55-23, with two free throws off a Carlo Young foul, 1:31 to go in the third period.

“The idea was to move the ball up quickly and attack CSB,” revealed SSCR head coach Edgar Macaraya. “We saw what they did to Mapua and we prepared for that.”
