The Power Smashers made away with their second straight win in the Premier Volleyball League at the expense of struggling Philippine Air Force, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22, Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
Jovelyn Prado was on point for the Power Smashers as she led her troops with 16 points en route to a 3-2 win-loss card.
Power Smashers head coach Nes Pamilar said his team had the advantage in terms of youth as his players were all still playing in the collegiate level and the Lady Jet Spikers were not playing on a full-time basis.
This advantage allowed the Power Smashers to bring the fight to the older Air Force team.
“I told them that we have to bring the fight, that we have to be more intense than they are,” said Pamilar. “My players are still in the collegiate level and our opponents are already working full-time jobs.”
Dimdim Pacres added a dozen points for the Power Smashers while Prado’s Arellano University teammates Regine Arocha and Andrea Marzan had 10 points apiece.
