Power Smashers remained undaunted in the face of a challenge posed by a veteran Air Force side to prevail, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22, Thursday in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Made up of collegiate stars, the Power Smashers pounced on the Jet Spikers’ erratic game to register their third win in five games, sneaking behind solo leader BaliPure.

It was a sorry loss for the Jet Spikers, who crashed to their fourth defeat in five games, jeopardizing their chances of making the next round.

Jovelyn Prado and fellow Arellano University stars Regine Arocha and Andrea Marzan joined hands with University of Santo Tomas hitter Dimdim Pacres to hammer out the victory.

Prado topscored with 16 points, Pacres added 12, while Arocha and Marzan chipped in 10 points each for the Power Smashers, who have been turning heads in the meet after downing the Alyssa Valdez-led Creamline last Tuesday.

Prado unleashed 13 attacks, two aces and one block, while Marzan had three blocks to sow fear among the Jet Spikers along the net.

“I guess we just worked very hard in practice and play even harder in the games,” said Pacres. “We were able to gain confidence with our wins and trusted each other.”

May Ann Pantino scored 16, while Iari Yongco had 12 for PAF, which even got 27 excellent sets from Wendy Semana.
