Adamson University has reached a different kind of altitude in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after fending off Mapua 74-68 to remain unbeaten Thursday.

The Soaring Falcons improved to an immaculate 3-0 card to top Group B while the Cardinals are at a woeful 0-2 after the match at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Despite his team’s impressive record, Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren said his team has to play consistently for the full 40 minutes of the game.

“We have to start looking at the bigger picture because for us to be really successful not only in this league but in the upcoming UAAP we have to play consistent basketball for 40 minutes,” said Pumaren.

“It’s frustrating on our part as coaches because we are going through the motion, and we decide whether we will turn it on or off.”

Adamson did shoot 41 percent from the field, 26-of-64, but attempted far too many triples with the Falcons converting just seven of its 26 attempts.

Simon Camacho led the Falcons with 15 points and nine rebounds while Jerick Ahanmisi added 13 points.

Robbie Manalang and Tyrus Hill were also on the offensive party for Adamson as they had 11 points apiece.

Andrew Estrella led Mapua with 16 points and five boards.
