INt’l body says LVPI legit NSA

Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. (LVPI) acting president Pete Cayco said on Friday volleyball could now go full steam ahead after the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) acknowledged it as the governing body of the sport in the country.

FIVB general director Fabio Azevedo said the ad-hoc commission tasked to settle the leadership dispute between the LVPI and the Philippine Volleyball Federation decided in favor of LVPI.

In an e-mail dated May 11, the FIVB commission deemed the LVPI as its affiliate that can organize international events in the Philippines. It also said the LVPI could enter national teams to international meets.

PVF would remain suspended and the FIVB even proposed its expulsion from the world governing body, which convenes its 36th World Congress in 2018. FIVB would also propose the granting of full membership to LVPI.

“I hope that this settles everything as far as volleyball in the Philippines is concerned,” said Cayco.
