Volleyball star Alyssa Valdez is set to skip the Clash of Heroes event on Monday that also serves as the first public tune-up game of the national team pool.

Valdez’ exclusion is in accordance with her club Creamline’s decision to rest her in the middle of the Premier Volleyball League season.

In a statement, Creamline co-team managers Rolando Delfino and Alan Acero said they cannot risk having their skipper put a toll on her body especially with the Cool Smashers imports yet to play in the PVL.

“Aly has played in straight game days and has had to do more for the team in light of the continuing delay of the release of the ITCs (International Transfer Certificates) required for our imports to play,” the team said in the statement.

“We cannot risk injury to her from overplay.”

Valdez is averaging a league-best 24.5 points but her Power Smashers have struggled mightily so far with a 1-3 card.
