Kai Sotto chipped in 12 points and seven boards, while Raven Cortez had 10 markers and two rebounds for the Philippines.

Though victorious once again, coach Mike Oliver chided his wards for playing with a bit of complacency as Batang Gilas saw its 36-point lead, 71-35, in the third quarter cut to 20, 77-57, with 9:21 left in the payoff period.

“We were super relaxed. We felt we could run over them because they are smaller. The intensity and aggressiveness when we got to a big lead suddenly got lost,” he said in Filipino. “I was just pressuring them to bring that intensity back.”

Felix Alexander anchored Indonesia with 18 points and three assists, while Darryl Sebastian got 16 markers and five boards.

In the first game, Malaysia needed a huge lift late to turn back Thailand, 74-62,

After going scoreless on Sunday, Wong Thiam Mun exploded for 24 points and collected seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals to carry the Malaysians to a 2-0 record.
