Malaysia escapes Vietnam in OT for 2nd straight win

Choo Wei Hong and Chun Hong Ting came up big down the stretch and Malaysia nipped Vietnam, 86-85, in overtime in the 2017 Seaba Championship Tuesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Choo drilled the go-ahead 15-footer with 11.4 ticks left, before Ting provided the game-saving block on Le Ngoc Tu’s three-pointer before the buzzer sounded.

Ting led the Malaysians with 28 points on top kf four assists, two rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, while Choo got 20 points, nine boards, three blocks and two steals.

Heng Yee Tong had a chance to win the game for Malaysia in regulation, but he missed an open three from the left wing as time expired.

He finished with 12 points but went just 4-of-12 from the field.

Malaysia has now won its second straight game after dropping its first three games.

Trieu Han Minh paced Vietnam (1-3) with 20 points and two rebounds, while Nguyen Van Hung added 16 markers and 12 boards.

Le Ngoc Tu hit 14 markers, four of which came in OT while also registering six assists and four rebounds.
