Three-time MVP June Mar Fajardo said Friday he wouldn’t mind coming back into PBA action after playing for one week in the Seaba tournament.
San Miguel’s jovial giant immediately went back to work as the PBA’s most imposing figure helped the Beermen hold off NLEX 114-108 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Cuneta Astrodome.
“We weren’t that tired during the Seaba tournament because our practices weren’t as intense as what I do in San Miguel,” said Fajardo, who finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and two blocks. “What we had were light practices so we weren’t that tired.”
After playing a faster-paced Seaba tournament, Fajardo had to adjust back to the PBA’s slower pace in their game against the Road Warriors.
That period of acclimating himself back to the league resulted in him committing six fouls and leaving the game with 1:36 left in the clock after an illegal hit on NLEX guard Kevin Alas.
“I was somehow surprised because back in SEABA we played faster, but PBA teams usually play in the half-court setup,” said Fajardo. “Actually I didn’t realize that I was already in foul trouble and that I was about to foul out.” /atm
