Beach volley tilt kicks off in Ilocos

Beach Volleyball Republic unveils its sixth leg Saturday at Playa Tropical Resort Hotel in Currimao, Ilocos Norte, with local and foreign teams battling for trophies and cash prizes.

The two-day BVR summer series will have two categories with a total of 24 teams participating. The University category will have eight teams each in men’s and women’s divisions while the Invitational category will have eight men’s teams competing.

Pairs from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Ateneo, Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas, University of Baguio, South Western University, University of San Jose, Cebu, and Ilocos Norte will participate in the two-day event.

Prizes for each division will be broken down to: P50,000 for the champion, P30,000 for the runner-up and P10,000 for the third placer.

The tournament is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol and the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas. The tournament has the Inquirer as media partner.
