Far Eastern University is once again the host of the UAAP, and for the league’s 80th season the school is looking to further put the spotlight on women’s volleyball.

Anton Montinola, FEU’s representative to the UAAP board, said the league is planning to hold an All-Star weekend kind of event at Mall of Asia Arena as a treat for the fans with an exhibition game pitting the league’s top women’s volleyball players as the likely centerpiece.

Montinola said the game will serve as the midseason spectacle before the league takes a short break come November.

“We’re thinking of doing a three-on-three on the activity center of MOA and then we’re thinking of maybe having an All-Star game for women’s volleyball,” said Montinola during the UAAP Season 79 closing ceremony Saturday at University of Santo Tomas.

Montinola added that a cheerdance competition for high school girls is also being planned as well as scheduling the beach volleyball and football tournaments at night.

He also said the All-Star game will emulate the style of the NBA’s midseason exhibition where fans will vote for the best players in each position and the two team will have three coaches each.

“One coach may takeover in the first, another in the second, and a third one in the third set,” he said.
