Two years ago, Jeron Teng and Kiefer Ravena represented the country in the 2015 FIBA 3×3 All-Star exhibition game in Doha, Qatar.

Teaming up with Nigerians Ola Adeogun and Bright Akhuetie, the team put up a show as they beat the Qatari under-18 squad.

This time, the two will lead the cavalry for the Philippines in the 2017 Fiba 3×3 World Cup.

“Before, it was only an exhibition and we knew that we’re just playing one game,” recounted Ravena. “Now, we have four games to play so we have to be disciplined because we’re fighting for something.”

Teng, meanwhile, relishes the opportunity as he, along with Kobe Paras and JR Quiñahan, will be able to perform at their best with the 3×3 World Cup at stake.

“The pressure helps us to be able to perform better. Kiefer and I, we go all-out when it comes to playing for the country,” he said.

As talented as the team is, Teng knows that the Philippines’ chemistry will be the key against bigger and tougher foes.

“We’re all here because we want to prove something. We’re the youngest team joining so we have a chip on our shoulder. We really have to get along well and play together to win,” he said.

The Philippines will be playing against hosts France, Slovenia, Romania, and El Salvador in Group B from June 17 to 21.
