Global Cebu leaned on a brace from Sekou Sylla to overcome 10-man Kaya Makati, 3-1, Wednesday in the Philippines Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Struggling in his first two outings, the Guinean striker scored in each half, after Dennis Villanueva opened the scoring in the fourth minute as Global raised its tally to seven points for second spot, behind Meralco Manila.
“It’s Sylla’s third game for us and it’s our job to unlock his scoring chances,” said Global coach Marjo Allado. “It was good that he scored early. I hope he gets that habit of scoring in the league.”
Despite missing Pika Minegishi, Global looked like it was cruising after scoring two goals in the first 16 minutes.
