JRU head coach Vergel Meneses said their loss against the Pirates was a wakeup call for his team who got a bit complacent after defeating reigning UAAP champions La Salle, 95-81, in the opener.
“This is a wakeup call for us because they started to think that they can beat anyone, we beat the no.1 collegiate team in the Philippines,” said Meneses as they settled for the second spot in Group B. “They thought that every game will be the same.”
