Globalport stayed in the playoff race in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup after coming away with a 107-101 win over Rain or Shine Friday at Alonte Sports Arena in Laguna.

The Batang Pier improved to 4-6 to tie Phoenix for the ninth spot while the Elasto Painters slipped to .500 territory with a 5-5 record.

Romeo would extend their lead to 103-98 at the 53-second mark but Jeff Chan cut it to a single basket, 103-101, after hitting a step-back triple with 41 seconds remaining.

Chan’s last basket, however, was the Rain or Shine’s last moment of glory as Sean Anthony slashed off any attempts to a comeback as he made a dagger of a jumper with 26 seconds left to give Globalport the 105-101 lead.

Romeo led Globalport with 26 points, seven assists, and five rebounds while Justin Harper added 19 points and 10 boards.

Duke Crews had 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead Rain or Shine while James Yap churned out 22 points, 18 of which came from beyond the arc.
