Far Eastern University kept its record flawless in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after handing Mapua a 99-84 beating Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Tamaraws improved to 4-0 in Group B while the Cardinals dropped to 0-6.
FEU head coach Olsen Racela said he wants his team to focus more on ball movement and defense after the Tamaraws dished out 25 assists but allowed the Cardinals to score more than 80 points.
“For a 40-minute game, our assists total is really impressive and it means they’re looking out for each other,” said Racela. “But our priority is still our defense because we gave up a lot. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with our offense but it’s not even.”
FEU shot 53 percent from the field but also let Mapua shoot a decent 46 percent.
RJ Ramirez was the high-point man for FEU with 18 points while Arvin Tolentino had 17 points and nine rebounds.
Andrew Estrella had 17 points and five assists to lead the Cardinals.
