Alexander Gustafsson demolished one of the scariest fighters in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, Glover Teixeira, during the main event of UFC Fight Night 109 on Sunday (Monday in Manila).
However, it appears that what he did after the fight was over took way more guts and courage than engaging in the professional brawl.
Fighting in front of his hometown crowd at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden, the 30-year-old dubbed as “The Mauler” asked his girlfriend’s hand in marriage, during the post fight interview with analyst Dan Hardy.
After the gruelling five-round war, the bruised up Gustafsson asked his girlfriend, Moa Antonia Johansson, to join him inside the octagon.
Fans roared in anticipation as the Swedish striker appeared to pull out a tiny box out of his shorts.
In a cliched but nonetheless sweet gesture, Gustafsson got down on one knee and popped the million-dollar question.
“I love you and thanks for having a kid, a baby. I love you with all my heart, and will you marry me?” he asked, to which Johansson said yes.
To cap off his memorable night, the former title challenger also became $50,000 richer, as he also took home the Fight of the Night bonus. JB
