Children’s Games up next in Cordilleras
After unifying the children of volatile Mindanao through sports, the Philippine Sports Commission will bring the same template to the insurgency-ravaged Cordilleras.
Philippine Sports Commission Chair Butch Ramirez said they were considering holding the next leg of the Children’s Games in Mountain Province following a successful campaign last week in Davao City.
The games, designed primarily for out-of-school youth 12 years old and younger, attracted over 600 participants from Muslim and Catholic communities, as well as from Lumad tribes in Mindanao.
“I hope the PSC continues to propagate this project, and I heard that the next stop will be in the Cordilleras,” said former PSC chief Aparecio Mequi, who was invited to the three-day Mindanao games.
