Roach would love a PacMay rematch, but unsure it would ever happen

The loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. two years ago still lingers as far as Freddie Roach is concerned.

Mayweather beat Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision in a fight no matter how uneventful still stands as the richest in boxing history.

“It’s still the most disappointing day of my life,” said Roach on Tuesday during the PSA Forum.

Pacquiao dropped a 116-112, 116-112, 118-110 decision to Mayweather, who retired unbeaten later that year going 49-0, and the Hall-of-Fame trainer feels the Filipino ring superstar wasn’t at his best during the fight.

“I know Manny can do much better than he did on that fight,” he said.

Pacquiao did reveal he fought Mayweather with an injured right shoulder and immediately went under the knife to repair a torn rotator cuff.

Roach likes to see a second installment between the two rivals but he admitted he’s uncertain if it will happen.

“Would I love to see a rematch with Mayweather? Yes. But will it happen? I’m not sure,” Roach said.

Mayweather, 40, hasn’t fought since announcing his retirement in Sept. 2015 but the former pound-for-pound king has been rumored to fight MMA star Conor McGregor.
