Wangs scores first win via huge comeback

Wangs Basketball rallied to nip Centro Escolar University, 88-87, for its first win in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday at JCSGO Gym.

The Couriers unloaded a 16-5 tear in the final 2:41 to erase a ten point deficit. Jason Riley capped the run with free throws that iced the final count with 22.9 seconds left.

Rod Ebondo and Art Aquino missed the Scorpions’ final chances at reversing the outcome.

“The players were thirsty for the win,” said coach Pablo Lucas in Filipino.

Michael Juico scored 26 points, 12 in the final period, and added eight rebounds and two assists for Wangs.

Tim Habelito tallied a near double-double of 12 markers and nine boards, while Christian De Chavez added in 11 for the Couriers.

CEU’s collapse put in naught Ebondo’s huge numbers of 27 points, 20 rebounds, and four blocks.
