The Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference kicks off Tuesday with a shortened calendar to accommodate the national team’s campaign in international competitions.
Foton, last year’s Grand Prix champion, and newcomer Cherrylume collide at 5 p.m., while Cocolife and Generika-Ayala clash at 7 to usher in the “flagship project” of the PSL.
PSC director Ian Laurel said this year’s AFC calendar was tweaked to accommodate the schedule of the national team to the Southeast Asian Games and the Asian Seniors, both slated this August.
TV5 executive Patricia Hizon lauded the gesture of the league, many stars of which are part of the national team rosters.
The PSL will have a formal opening ceremony on Saturday to bring in the weekend crowd. The tournament will end July 15, just in time for the national team to begin its camp in Japan.
