Foton hardly felt the need for Jaja Santiago in disposing of newcomer Cherrylume Tuesday night.
The Tornadoes used most of their new recruits to flatten the Iron Ladies, 25-21, 25-16, 25-17, at the start of the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
New addition CJ Rosario made six points to serve as pillar for the Tornadoes while main players Santiago and Maica Ortiz were rested the whole of the first set.
But Santiago and Ortiz, coming from stint with the national team to the Asian Club Championships in Kazakhstan, were briefly sent in the second set when Foton’s skeletal force were dragged to a 15-15 deadlock.
“Our game [is] not yet 100 percent, we need more from the players,” said Foton coach Moro Branislav.
Santiago scored three straight points as Foton quickly regained the driver’s seat.
