Far Eastern University took a share of the top spot in its group in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after taking down Emilio Aguinaldo College, 68-61, Wednesday at the tournament’s namesake arena in San Juan.
The Tamaraws improved to 6-1 to tie San Sebastian atop Group B while the Generals slipped to 2-5.
Despite the win, FEU head coach Olsen Racela demanded more consistency from his players who weren’t able to build large enough leads against the Generals.
“We were passive this game, although we still got the victory,” said Racela. “Every game for me is a learning experience. This is a good experience for me because I’m able to determine who are the players that I give minutes to that will kill themselves every possession.”
An area of concern for Racela was his team allowing the Generals to grab 21 offensive rebounds that led to 11 second-chance points.
Brandley Biernes had 10 points for FEU while RJ Ramirez and Arvin Tolentino had nine apiece.
Sydney Onwubere led EAC with 11 points.
