Creamline moved a game away from a third place finish after sweeping the Power Smashers, 25-20 25-18 25-15, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Saturday at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cool Smashers leaned on Alyssa Valdez, Thai Kuttika Kaewpin and American import Laura Schaudt, whose kill clinched the game a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three duel.
“They’re playing happy, they’re playing inspired and everyone is playing with a jigh intensity,” said Creamline assistant coach Oliver Almadro.
Valdez unleashed a game-high 21 points while Kaewpin and Schaudt scored 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Creamline was relegated to the battle for third tiff after losing to Bali Pure in three sets in a deciding Game 3 of the semifinals on Thursday.
The two teams meet again on Tuesday with the Power Smashers looking to even the duel in Game 2.
The Power Smashers just simply couldn’t match the Cool Smashers’ firepower with Kannila Thipachot their lone player hitting in double-digit scoring.
A kill by Pau Soriano made it, 16-8, and Creamline never looked back as it rolled in the third set while the Power Smashers had the hard time figuring out the Cool Smashers’ unpredictable offense.
