Jovelyn Gonzaga uncorked 18 points to lead Cignal to a 27-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19 victory over F2 Logistics and sweep Pool A Tuesday in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The lefty opposite hitter, one of the top bets for a slot in the national team, made 17 attack points for the HD Spikers, who won all three preliminary matches.
Rachel Anne Daquis and Honey Royse Tubino, who joined the franchise along with Gonzaga in the off-season, added 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Cignal.
“It’s good that we can now see the chemistry among our players,” said Cignal coach George Pascua. “Our team building [in Japan] is paying off.”
All told, the HD Spikers tried to mow down the Cargo Movers through a relentless assault that yielded 59 attack points as against 42 by F2 Logistics.
