PBA D-League: Big Chill nips Dub; RnW scores

MANILA, Philippines—Jessie Collado nailed a three-point play with 15.3 seconds left to cap a rally that lifted Big Chill past Dub Unlimited, 62-61, and into a share of the lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Collado shared scoring honors with Alex Mallari with 13 points for the Superchargers, who joined idle Cebuana Lhuillier and Freego Jeans at 3-0.

RnW Pacific Pipes also came back from 12 points down in the last six minutes to trip Café France, 80-76, in the first game.

The Fil-Am duo of JR Buensuceso and Jordan Sanvictores combined for 14 points in a 21-5 surge that lifted the Steel Masters from a 59-71 deficit.

“The boys just didn’t give up in that stretch,” said coach Topex Robinson.

Buensuceso, a 5-foot-9 guard from California, finished with 19 markers, seven assists and four steals, while the 6-foot-6 Sanvictores posted a double-double of 17 points and 16 boards.

Café France skidded to its third straight loss, while Dub also remained winless in four outings.

The Wheelers had a shot at extending the game into overtime, but Marlon Gomez’s long jumper at the buzzer was ruled as a two-point shot.
