San Beda capped off its immaculate group stage run in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup with an 82-67 shellacking of Ateneo Friday at the tournament’s namesake arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions will march to the quarterfinals with a perfect 8-0 record while the Blue Eagles will be on the outside looking with a 4-4 record.

Ateneo’s loss allowed La Salle to creep into the playoffs with the Green Archers taking the fourth spot in Group A.

San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez said he’s happy with their spotless card but he insisted that they still have a lot to do.

“We’re happy we got the 8-0 record but it’s not over yet,” said Fernandez. We still have a lot to improve on and hopefully we can get past UP [University of the Philippines].”

Robert Bolick led all scorers with 27 points and five rebounds while JVee Mocon missed out on a double-double finishing with nine points and 12 boards for the Red Lions.

Rafael Verano led Ateneo with 12 points.
