Pacesetter Meralco Manila and Kaya FC Makati renew their rivalry, even as streaking JPV Marikina battles powerhouse Ceres Negros in the Philippines Football League on Saturday.
Unbeaten in four matches so far, the Sparks face their toughest test yet in fierce rivals Kaya in the Metro Manila derby at University of Makati pitch.
Also kicking off at 4 p.m. at Rizal Memorial Stadium is the tussle between JPV and Ceres.
Both Meralco and Ceres could miss key players who just came off a stint with the national team in Asian Cup Qualifying in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Sparks skipper James Younghusband is doubtful for the tiff due to an ankle injury while Phil Younghusband could be rested after scoring in the Azkals’ 4-3 win over Tajikistan.
“We have been informed of the injury,” said Aris Caslib, referring to James. As for Phil, Caslib said “we have to check how quickly he can adapt to the travel.”
