Filipino bets Dy, De Tomas tumble in UFC bouts

Filipino fighters Carls de Tomas and Rolando Dy both suffered setbacks in their Ultimate Fighting Championship debut at UFC Fight Night Singapore at Singapore Indoor Stadium Saturday night.

Naoki Inoue scored an impressive unanimous decision win over de Tomas in also his first fight in the UFC.

Inoue continued his winning streak and improved to 11-0 while de Tomas saw his six-fight run snapped for a  6-1 card.

Both flyweights were at it in the opening round but Inoue was the more persistent one attempting to put the match to the mat with submission holds.

De Tomas would time and again slither from Inoue’s efforts.

Inoue eventually tired out de Tomas come the third round and had his moments when he rained down ground strikes on the Filipino.

Meanwhile, Alex Caceres gave Dy a rude welcome in the UFC with a technical knockout victory.

Caceres improved his MMA record to 13-10 and 8-8 in the UFC while Dy, who is fighting for the first time in the promotion, dropped to 8-5-1.

Though the fight ended after Dy suffered an eye injury, Caceres had the better offensive game, hitting Dy from all corners before the referee awarded the American the second round TKO.

Caceres dropped Dy with a stiff left straight in the 2:30 mark of the first round then followed it up with a flurry of ground strikes.

As Dy tried to stand up, Caceres hopped on the Filipino’s back to apply a rear naked choke.

Dy received the decision in between the second and third rounds.
