Akari and Hapee Toothpaste are putting up teams in the Premier Volleyball League, bringing to eight the number of squads that will compete in the Open Conference starting July 1.

Lighting and technology firm Akari will utilize Adamson University players led by Jemma Galanza, who played for Creamline in the Reinforced Conference. American coach Airess Padda will call the shots for the team.

Hapee Toothpaste will form its team around University of the Philippines stalwarts, including Isa Molde and Diane Carlos with coach Jerry Yee at the helm.

The two new squads will test their mettle against league mainstays led by three-peat champion Pocari Sweat, Alyssa Valdez-led Creamline, Air Force, Perlas, BaliPure and the Power Smashers.
