Jimmy Yabo has had a disastrous stretch under the ONE Championship promotion, losing four of his last five matches.

That record, however, hasn’t detered Yabo from making 2017 his personal redemption year as he takes on Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist Bruno Pucci (4-2 MMA, 2-2 ONE) in the undercard of ONE: Light of a Nation in Myanmar on June 30.

Yabo remains positive he can turn things around in the Singapore-based promotion.

“It’s tough because my back is against the wall, but I keep myself optimistic as fight day approaches,” said Yabo in a statement. “I am looking to make a statement.”

“It’s my first fight in ONE Championship this year and a big win will spark a momentum in my journey in this great organization.”

Yabo’s (5-4 MMA, 1-4 ONE) last two fights both ended via technical knockout but the Cebuano striker aims to change his fortunes in his fight against Pucci.

“One punch or one takedown can change a fight, I have to be the clear winner, I am prepared for this fight but I need to execute my game plan suitably on fight night to go home with the win,” said Yabo.
