De La Salle stalwart Kim Kianna Dy has replaced Rachel Anne Daquis in the national women’s volleyball team, officials of the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. said Friday.

Daquis, who captained the Philippine representative in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, was part of the reserve squad for the national team but on Friday made it known that she will be leaving the program.

Team officials, though, don’t know the reason for Daquis’ decision to leave the team.

“I feel so bad that Rachel left, I don’t know what the reason is. There might be some personal reason behind her decision,” LVPI Director Tats Suzara said. “But, again, this is the national. The show must go on and we have a lot of good players. We must move forward.”

With the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in August fast approaching, Dy was immediately selected as a replacement for Daquis.

Dy, who plays the opposite spiker unlike Daquis who is an outside hitter, will also be put in the reserve squad together with fellow Lady Spiker Dawn Macandili.
