PBA D-League Aspirants Cup: Boracay Rum stings Cobra
MANILA, Philippines—Boracay Rum leaned on a strong start and never looked back as it trounced Cobra Energy Drink, 70-56, Tuesday in the 2011 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JRU gym.
Boracay Rum led early and sustained its form to build a double-digit spread as big as 17, 57-40 at the end of the third quarter.
Erwin Cornejo scattered 16 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Ironmen, who only managed to tally nine points in the first quarter while also giving up 23, suffered to their third setback in as many games.
Cornejo, a former Mapua slotman, had 12 points in the first half.
Boracay Rum evened its win-loss record at 2-2.
Josan Nimes, the NCAA rookie of the year, paced Cobra with 11 points.
The Ironmen committed 25 turnovers.
