With the Olympics in mind, Jan Paul Morales pulled away early for a solo breakaway finish in the recent UCI Ontario Season End Criterium in Canada.

The sprint specialist from Philippine Navy-Standard Insurance led the field that raced for 70 minutes plus three laps around the largely flat, two-kilometer technical course.

Morales, this year’s Ronda Pilipinas champion, cut loose from the peloton early with six other riders before bolting out of the lead pack in the 20-minute mark.

Morales took home $2,000 for the victory and earned the much-needed points to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
