Cignal and F2 Logistics handily defeated their rivals Thursday to arrange a semifinal showdown in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The HD Spikers made a quick kill of the Cocolife Asset Managers, 25-17, 25-10, 25-20, to make the next round.
Earlier, F2 Logistics nipped Generika-Ayala’s uprising in the bud to secure a 25-14, 25-19, 25-17 victory and preserve its fifth straight victory en route to the next round.
They will face each other in the semifinal phase slated July 6.
For the Cargo Movers’ coach Ramil de Jesus, there’s still enough room for adjustment.
“Hopefully we can still improve because we had a lot of unforced errors and there are times our spikers and setters don’t communicate well,” said De Jesus.
F2 Logistics had 20 errors compared to Generika’s 32, and the Cargo Movers buried the Lifesavers in attacks,
32-25.
Kim Fajardo scored seven points on top of 21 excellence sets for the Cargo Movers.
Despite the stats sheet, De Jesus said the key was F2 Logistics’ defense.
Counter
“We were able to counter all of their moves,” said De Jesus in Filipino.
“That’s why we caught them by surprise with our blocking and forced them to commit errors because of that.”
Generika-Ayala briefly held the driver’s seat, 16-9, in the second frame only to see F2 Logistics clamping on top Lifesaver Gen Casugod.
Ara Galang topscored for F2 with 12 points.
