Galang, Laure eyed for national pool

The Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. will add four more players to the national pool for the Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship slated Aug. 9 to 17 in Biñan, Laguna.

LVPI acting president Pete Cayco said the four players will be named after the Japan training camp slated July 18 to Aug. 1.

“We are planning to have three or four more because in the Asian Seniors we are allowed to have 18 names in the lineup with 14 to play,” said Cayco.

Tipped to join the team are young spikers Ara Galang, EJ Laure, Cherry Rondina and veteran setter Chie Saet.

Cayco graced Friday’s presser announcing the Asian Seniors television coverage to be handled by ABS-CBN.

National head coach Francis Vicente said he has a “very strong team that can hold its ground against Kazakhstan.”

The Philippines, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan are in the same group.
