Jerwin Ancajas solidified his position as one of the best super flyweights in the world after knocking out Teiru Kinoshita in the co-main event in Battle of Brisbane and retained his IBF strap Sunday.
The Pretty Boy threw a barrage of punches to the head and body of Kinoshita late in the seventh round but it was a right hook to the midsection that dropped the Japanese as referee Ignatius Missailidis stopped the match with 1:53 elapsed in the period.
This was Ancajas’ second defense of the IBF World super flyweight belt as he improved his record to 27-1-1, with a 3-0 slate in World title fights.
Ancajas tried to put on a methodical approach in the first round, but he went full throttle in the second, giving Kinoshita a cut above the right eye.
Kinoshita (25-2-1) was on a constant backfoot motion as Ancajas pushed his offense further hitting from distance and closing on the Japanese with multiple body shots.
