Global Cebu FC warmed up for its rematch with Ceres Negros by battling Kaya FC Makati to a 2-2 stalemate on Sunday in the Philippines Football League at University of Makati Stadium.
Shu Sasaki put Global on top in the 25th minute, but the home side looked poised to grab maximum points after second half goals from Jordan Mintah and Robert Lopez Mendy, who smashed home from just inside the box in the 89th minute.
But a defensive lapse just seconds after taking the lead cost Kaya maximum points as Guinean striker Sekou Sylla pounced on a scramble inside a waterlogged penalty box to fire a shot between the legs of goalkeeper Ref Cuaresma.
Global moved up to third ahead of Ceres by a point, three days before the Visayas clubs square off in Cebu.
