Matt Ganuelas-Rosser has spent the last several months in the sidelines due to various injuries.

But his agonizing wait to return could be over soon as he expects to make a comeback when San Miguel Beer plays its first game in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The season-ending conference starts on July 19 but the Beermen would likely be one of the last teams to make their debut after figuring in a best-of-seven finals, which just culminated on Sunday, with the TNT KaTropa.

San Miguel won in six games as the winningest team in PBA history racked up its fifth championship in eight conferences.

“I should be good the first game,” said Rosser during the Beermen’s victory party at SMC head office Wednesday night.

“Right now, everything is going as scheduled. August is my date and hopefully our first game will be around that time.”

The 27-year-old Rosser is currently recovering from a quad injury, which according to him, won’t require any surgery and will simply heal from rest.

The third-year swingman was acquired from TNT in exchange for guard RR Garcia late April and has been raring to go since especially during the finals duel.

“I wanted to play so bad. The energy that the guys brought, I just wanted to be a part of that,” he said. “I was fortunate to end up on the winning side and fortunate as well to be a part of it even though I wasn’t suited up.”

The best that Rosser could do was to show his full support and take down notes while watching his teammates compete for the title.

“I learned that to win a championship it takes more than skill. With these guys, they have the drive, the passion and whether we’re up or down, they’re gonna go hard no matter what and I wanted to be a part of that so bad.”
