RnW Steel Masters seek win No. 3

MANILA, Philippines—RnW Pacific Pipes seeks back-to-back victories for the first time in the tournament when it tangles with winless PC Gilmore in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Far Eastern University Gym in Manila Thursday.

Sporting an even 2-2 slate, the Steel Masters shoot for solo sixth spot in the 4 p.m. duel with the Wizards, who have lost their first two games in the tournament.

Cobra Energy Drink and Café France collide at 2 p.m. in a clash of winless teams.

The Ironmen again fell short Tuesday, absorbing a 56-70 loss to Boracay Rum at the JRU Gym.

But there were plenty of encouraging signs for coach Lawrence Chongson’s wards as they continued to draw a superb effort from Mapua hotshot Josan Nimes.

The Steel Masters are coming off an 80-76 victory over Café France Monday that allowed RnW to tie Boracay Rum.

RnW coach Topex Robinson marveled at his squad’s performance in the final period, where the Steel Masters rallied from 12 points down to snatch the win.

The Steel Masters will pin their hopes on the Filipino-American duo of JR Buensuceso, a 5-foot-9 guard, and Jordan Sanvictores.

Buensuceso had 19 points, seven assists and four steals in their last match.
