Wangs Basketball shifted into high gear in the third quarter to put AMA Online Education away for good en route to a 110-85 rout in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Tuesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

After seeing their early 19-point lead dwindle at halftime, the Couriers regained their form in the second half, outscoring the Titans, 32-19, in the third quarter and leading by as much as 29 late.

“The players worked hard especially on the defensive end,” said Wangs head coach Gab Banal.

“We focused on defending Bonleon and Subido because they’re hard to slow down.”

The Couriers had six players in double figures led by Rob Herndon’s 23 points.

Michael Juico, John Ambuluto and John Montemayor, who grabbed 13 rebounds, added 12 points apiece for Wangs, which improved to 5-3.

With their second straight win, the Couriers are on track to finish the elimination round at either third or fourth and enter the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat edge.

Renzo Subido still came away with a game-high 35 points on 13-of-25 shooting from the field that went with eight assists while Mario Bonleon scored 11 but turned the ball over seven times. AMA slid to 1-6.
