Adamson University stopped its losing streak in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference and broke the Power Smashers in four sets, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, Wednesday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Falcons are now at 1-2 while the Power Smashers saw their losing streak stretch to three games.

Chiara May Permentilla ended the match in spectacular fashion while earning her 24th point with an off-the-block kill that ensured Adamson’s first victory.

“I think I really stressed to them today the team that was going to win today is the team that is going to be more consistent,” said Lady Falcons head coach Air Padda. “I think that’s been a really big problem for us and we knew that we were going up a team that was similar to us, not in skill but just with the inexperience.”

The Power Smashers, despite being a club team, is composed of collegiate athletes—the same scenario as the school-based Lady Falcons.

“I know most of those girls are NCAA college girls, and they also got [Dimdim] Pacres from UST [Univeristy of Santo Tomas].”

Adamson skipper Jema Galanza complemented Permentilla’s scoring exploits with 17 points while Bernadette Flora and Christine Soyud combined for 14 points.

Regine Arocha led the 0-3 Power Smashers with 13 points while Pacres and Ann Esguerra added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
