Inspired by the presence of his family who flew in from Australia last week, national team standout Iain Ramsay produced a hat-trick to propel Ceres Negros past leader FC Meralco Manila, 7-0, Saturday in the Philippines Football League at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Spanish striker Fernando Rodriguez also came through with a couple of goals while Stephan Schrock accounted for the other goal for the Busmen who moved up to third spot with 19 points, behind Meralco (23 points) and Global Cebu (20).
It was Ceres’ second straight 7-0 victory after drubbing Ilocos United by the same scoreline last weekend at Panaad Stadium. What made the victory even more remarkable was the fact that the Busmen beat a Meralco side which had brothers Phil and James Younghusband starting.
Meralco lost for the first time in 10 matches this season
“When we do it like we did it today, we should have no problems,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidakovic.

Ramsay’s wife, Jodie, and one-year-old son, Oddell Jordan, arrived last week.
