Captain Hook is ready to sail again.

Mac Cardona will be making his basketball comeback, this time with Zark’s Burgers as he is set to play in the team’s last two games in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

“We’re going back the same way we started. We’re giving chance to the other players like Mac to prove that they sill have gas left in their tank,” said Jawbreakers team owner Commie Espina Varona.

The 35-year-old Cardona joined team practices on Monday, but was non-committal as far his future with the team is.

“He will end the conference with us. But surely, we want him in our team for the future,” Zark’s team manager Sherwin Cantos said

Cardona last played in the PBA in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup with NLEX, where he averaged career-lows of 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 9 minutes of play.

He has enjoyed a lengthy 11-year playing career in the PBA since leaving La Salle, where he netted averages of 14.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in his stops with Talk N’ Text, Meralco, Air21, and NLEX before suffering on drug overdose last year.

The mercurial swingman’s entry will be a huge boost to the Zark’s Burgers squad which has struggled to string victories in its maiden foray in the PBA D-League wherein the team set league records for all the wrong reasons.

The Jawbreakers absorbed a record-setting 76-point loss to Tanduay last July 10.

Already out of the running for a quarterfinals spot with their 1-7 record, the Jawbreakers have fired their head coach Jade Padrigao and installed assistant coach Gino Enriquez in an interim capacity to finish the conference.

However, Cardona’s arrival could help the team play the spoiler role for playoff-bound squads as he is set to join forces with ex-pro Robby Celiz.

Cardona debuts on Tuesday for Zark’s against Marinerong Pilipino.
