University of the Philippines hitter Isa Molde had her share of the limelight as one of the focal points of the Lady Maroons.

She made immediate impact for UP back in Season 78 when she won Rookie of the Year, but in her two years with the Lady Maroons there were always the seniors watching over her and the team.

But Wednesday, Molde had to face her former mentors Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.

Molde said the game was an opportunity to prove that the Lady Maroons are still just as capable as they move on from their departure.

“I think we’re trying to prove that we can stand on our own even without them guiding us,” said Molde after losing to Bersola and Tiamzon’s BanKo Perlas 30-28, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18 at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Molde added that holding their own against them was of “achievement” for the younger players.

“It was like an achievement for us to play against them after all they were always there for us in UP,” said Molde, who finished with 15 points.
