San Beda turns back EAC for 2nd straight win

San Beda bagged its second straight win in the NCAA Season 93 men’s basketball tournament at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 81-69, Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Red Lions claimed solo second with a 3-1 record while the Generals are at 1-2.

San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez said their win wasn’t the prettiest of victories they had this season as he rued his team’s flurry of turnovers.

“We have so many turnovers,” said Fernandez. “It’s an ugly win, but we’ll take it.”

The Red Lions put the Generals in a vise grip limiting EAC to just 17 attempts at the basket, with only nine getting through the cylinder.

San Beda also ran EAC aground in transition scoring 20 fast break points as opposed to the Generals’ two.

Jomari Presbiterio led four Red Lions who finished in double figures with 16 points while Donald Tankoua missed out on a double-double putting up 12 points and grabbing nine boards.

Robert Bolick filled up the stat sheets for San Beda with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists while power forward Javee Mocon also had 10 points.

Francis Munsayac had a game-high 21 points to lead the Generals.
