Irving trade demand surprises former Cavs teammate Dellavedova

There were impending signs that there would be a shakeup within the Cleveland Cavaliers team when point guard Kyrie Irving told Sports Illustrated that they’re “in a peculiar situation.”
Even centerpiece LeBron James said that he’s disappointed with movement, or lack thereof, of the Cavs front office in the NBA offseason.
The movement eventually happened Saturday when Irving demanded he be traded away from the Cavaliers.

Though trade demands are not that surprising in the league, it still resonated with former Cavalier Matthew Dellavedova.
“I was surprised,” said Dellavedova, who watched the PBA Governors’ Cup at Mall of Asia Arena Saturday night.
Dellavedova was an instrumental part in the Cavs’ 2016 championship run where he was the primary defender on two-time MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

“I woke up around 5:30 in the morning due to jet lag and when I checked my phone, I was a bit surprised to see the news,” said Dellavedova.
The Australian point guard signed with the Milwaukee Bucks at the start of the 2016-2017 season but he left such an impact that he was still presented with the Cavaliers’ championship ring in his return to Cleveland.
“Let’s see where this goes,” said Dellavedova of the Irving situation.
