ADAMSON’S veteran trio starred anew as the Lady Falcons foiled University of St. La Salle-Bacolod’s repeated comebacks, 26-24, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, yesterday to claim the first championship berth in the Shakey’s V-League.
Former MVP Nerissa Bautista, Angela Benting and Pau Soriano led the attacks to power the Lady Falcons to a 2-0 sweep of their semifinal series at the FilOil-Flying V Arena in San Juan.
“We really wanted to end the series today,” said coach Dulce Pante after her Lady Falcons moved closer to a second straight title.
Ateneo downed National University, 25-14, 25-18, 25-20, in the other semifinal series, but a winner-take-all Game 3 will be played tomorrow after the league reversed Ateneo’s Game 1 victory.
League officials said Ateneo fielded libero in reserve Bea Tan as a regular player in their 25-27, 25-14, 25-10, 25-19 triumph, thus violating the FIVB rule that forbids libero to revert back as a regular player. Carmela L. Dayauon
